Ray White Whitsunday Appointment – Cannonvale

WORK has started on a new residential development on the outskirts of Cannonvale, which includes plans for an 18-hole golf course and country club as well as retail and commercial precincts.

The project will be developed over the next 10-15 years but it is expected that the civil works for the first 50 lots will be completed by the end of July.

Developers are aiming to have the golf driving range completed by Christmas and the first nine holes of the golf course to be in use within five years.

Queensland’s Latitude Development Group (LDG) bought the 283.5 hectare site (previously known as Spyglass Hill) off Shute Harbour Road last year.

LDG is the same company that developed the $80 million Peppers Airlie Beach Resort, which was completed in 2009.

LDG director Josh Thompson said the project was an opportunity to deliver a master-planned residential community that would meet the region’s growth forecasts.

“The approval gives us great scope to develop everything from traditional lots and house-and-land packages, to low and medium density dwellings such as villas, townhouses [and] units, through to a retirement village,” he said.

LDG has projected sales of close to $70 million over the first four years of the development.

Ray White Whitsunday has been appointed as the marketing agent for the project. Agency principal Mark Beale and project marketing specialist Steve Marks will steer the marketing campaign for the $500 million project.

Mr Marks, who has lived in the area for more than 17 years, said the project was a significant milestone in the development of the Whitsunday region and would offer a lifestyle haven for people employed in the resources sector.
